10 Search Engine Optimization Tips

  1. Content. Content. Content. Deliver quality content that will attract human visitors.
  2. Make it easy for robot visitors (search engine ‘spiders’ or ‘crawlers’) to find your content.
  3. Links to your website from external websites improve your search engine rankings.
  4. Include relevant META data on your webpages, including page title, keywords, and description.
  5. Target each web page’s title to a specific keyword.
  6. Use your target keyword on links within your website and on external links (avoid ‘click here’ links).
  7. Cross link between the pages of your website to provide the most important pages in your website greater visibility.
  8. Use 301 redirects to make sure one version of your website is getting ranking credit from links that link to different address versions (i.e. opendesign.us/marketing/ and www.opendesign.us/marketing/ count as different pages without a 301 redirect)
  9. Conform to search engine guidelines.
  10. Do not attempt to deceive them in the short term at the expense of long-term results
