10 Search Engine Optimization Tips
- Content. Content. Content. Deliver quality content that will attract human visitors.
- Make it easy for robot visitors (search engine ‘spiders’ or ‘crawlers’) to find your content.
- Links to your website from external websites improve your search engine rankings.
- Include relevant META data on your webpages, including page title, keywords, and description.
- Target each web page’s title to a specific keyword.
- Use your target keyword on links within your website and on external links (avoid ‘click here’ links).
- Cross link between the pages of your website to provide the most important pages in your website greater visibility.
- Use 301 redirects to make sure one version of your website is getting ranking credit from links that link to different address versions (i.e. opendesign.us/marketing/ and www.opendesign.us/marketing/ count as different pages without a 301 redirect)
- Conform to search engine guidelines.
- Do not attempt to deceive them in the short term at the expense of long-term results
